Makeup Routines during a Pandemic
During a pandemic, practically everything changes. As classes become digital and social distancing guidelines are enforced, makeup and skincare routines are altered.
“I have been experimenting more with color and getting myself out [of my comfort zone]. Sometimes I do pops of color under my eye,” makeup guru Nico Mendes said.
As well as incorporating color into his routine, Nico and others are trying out new products.
“I wanted to stop curling my eyelashes because it’s kind of ruining them and I’m too lazy to put on fake eyelashes, so I found magnetic eyelashes on Sephora. I would recommend them for going out though, not for everyday. I also got a tinted cheek stain and I have been using that instead of my usual clay blush,” Graysen Bradley said.
For many students, Zoom classes are a daily occurence. Since Zoom touches up a caller’s appearance, some people are using less makeup.
“For classes, most of the time I don’t put anything on. But I’ll end up doing [makeup] for fun afterwards,” Lily Vancans said.
With limited interaction with others, some do not put any makeup on at all and take this time to focus on their skin and let it rest while in quarantine.
“I have definitely been focusing a lot on skincare during all of this and wearing a lot less face makeup,” Vancans said.
In a time of change, it is clear that people have modified their beauty routines to fit their needs.
