Top 5 Restaurants in LA

When visiting a new city, it is all about the food. The food represents the city and the people who reside there. However, going out to eat can become an obstacle. With so many options, choosing one place can be challenging. Los Angeles offers a wide range of cuisines. Ethiopian food in Little Ethiopia. Korean food from Koreatown. Thai food from Thaitown. Whatever your stomach desires, Los Angeles has. It is a matter of narrowing your cravings down to one restaurant. These five restaurants will give you a satisfied stomach and a peek into what Los Angeles represents.

1. Rossoblu
This Italian restaurant in the Arts District will transport you to Bologna, Italy with every bite. I will never forget the braised pork meatballs with tomato and grilled polenta bread or the milk-braised pork shoulder with caramelized cabbage. The meatballs were juicy and tender and paired nicely with the slightly sweet tomato sauce. The milk-braised pork shoulder is so tender and fatty that it will just melt in your mouth. The caramelized cabbage complements the pork well as it cuts down on the saltiness and fat. I have never been disappointed by a dish from Rossoblu and it captures Italy’s essence incredibly well.

2. The Little Door
The Little Door in Los Angeles has created an amazing dining experience. The Mediterranean inspired food and the atmosphere is incomparable. My favorite dish is the marinated mediterranean white sea bass with a saffron espelette sauce, yukon gold potato puree, braised red kale, fennel, and carrots. This dish is so simple but it is so balanced and all the components work well together. I still think about this dish all the time and the depth of flavor achieved from such simple ingredients. If you are craving amazing Mediterranean food and looking for an escape from life, The Little Door will satisfy your desires.

3. Guerrilla Tacos
Mexican food is one of my least favorite cuisines. I have never loved a Mexican dish until I ate at Guerrilla Tacos in the Arts District. The Huevos Ahogados is one of the best things I have ever eaten. Huevos Ahogados translates to “drunken eggs” in Spanish. This dish has tomatoes, a scallion sofrito, two eggs sunny side up, avocado salad, and fresh flour tortillas. There is something about the sweet tomatoes paired with eggs and avocado that is indescribable. If someone asked me to choose a dish to eat everyday for the rest of my life, this would be it.

4. Il Pastaio
Il Pastaio in Beverly Hills has the best authentic Italian food in Los Angeles. The Trecciolina arugula salad with tomato, hearts of palm, shaved parmesan, mozzarella cheese, and an avocado dressing is insanely good. The dressing pulls the salad together and is the perfect side to any pasta. I also loved the fettuccine bolognese with gluten free pasta. I have not tried a more authentic pasta than this outside of Bologna, Italy where bolognese originated. This dish was perfect in every way.
5. Atrium
Atrium, located in Los Feliz, is a restaurant for when you are feeling adventurous. When you look at the menu, you just want to try everything because it all sounds intriguing. Out of the many dishes I tried, the loaded crispy smashed potatoes with a sunny side up egg, chipotle queso, and salsa taquera was by far my favorite. You really cannot go wrong with crispy smashed potatoes but when they are covered in queso and salsa with an egg, that is heaven. I loved the spicy hints with the crispy potatoes and the egg yolk dripping over the potatoes. The caramelized kimchi burrito, those biscuits, cauliflower hash, and golden milk chia pudding were also amazing. Everything at Atrium is so creative and the food is as good as it sounds and looks.
